Srinagar, Dec 07 (KNO): The night temperature has plummeted further in Kashmir parts with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recording the coldest night of the season at minus 2.6 degree Celsius. As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a few other places of Kashmir including Qazigund and Kupwara, also recorded the coldest night of the season. In Qazigund, the mercury settled at minus 2.2 degree Celsius while in Gulmarg, a minimum temperature of minus 2.5 degree Celsius was recorded. Pahalgam, a famous tourist place, recorded a low of minus 4.9 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.1 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature plummeted after the day-long wet spell in Kashmir on November 30, 2023. The weatherman had predicted a significant drop in the minimum temperatures, saying that the night temperature is expected to fall by 3-5 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the minimum temperature is expected to go further down in the coming days as there is no forecast of any major weather activity till December 14. However, he said that light snowfall is expected at isolated places in the higher reaches on December 12. “Overall, no major weather activity is expected till December 14 and the weather would remain mostly dry and cloudy during the period,” he said—(KNO)
